Who we are

Findofax ("we", "us", "the Service") is a local events search service operated by Restless Knight Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17365637), whose registered office is Unit 82a James Carter Road, Bury St. Edmunds, United Kingdom, IP28 7DE. Restless Knight Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Terms of Service.

What we collect

The Service is a search index: most of what we process is public event information (event titles, dates, venues) collected automatically from venue websites. The personal data we collect directly from you is limited to:

• Area interest registrations: the email address and location (town, city or county) you give us when you ask to be notified about a launch in your area, plus the date you registered.
• Venue requests: the details you submit when asking us to add a venue (venue name, website, town or postcode, venue type, optional notes, and your email address if you choose to give it).
• Event feedback: the details you submit when reporting a problem with an event (report type, optional note, and your email address if you choose to give it).
• Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) used to keep the Service running and secure.

How we use it

We use your email and location only to tell you when Findofax becomes available in your area. We use venue requests and event feedback only to review, add or correct listings on the Service, and — if you gave us your email — to follow up about your submission. We do not send other marketing emails, and we do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties for their own purposes.

Legal basis

We rely on your consent (given when you submit a form and, for emails, tick the consent box) to email you about launches or follow up on your submission, and on our legitimate interest in operating a secure Service for technical logs. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Retention

Interest registrations are kept until we launch in your area and have notified you, or until you ask us to delete them, or for a maximum of 3 years — whichever comes first. Venue requests and event feedback are kept while they are open, and for up to 12 months after they are resolved, so we can spot recurring problems. Server logs are kept for a maximum of 90 days.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or withdraw consent, by emailing hello@findofax.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you can complain to us using the contact details above, or to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection issues (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113).

Cookies

The Service does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We may use essential browser storage (for example to remember your last search position) which does not identify you.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date below and, for significant changes, notify registered users by email.
